1932 – 2015

MECHANIC FALLS — Alfred L. Stone, 82, of Mechanic Falls, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, July 12, at his home in Mechanic Falls.

Alfred was born on July 17, 1932, in Pierpoint, N.J., a son of Peter and Hazel (Thurston) Stone. He attended schools in Minot, Mechanic Falls and Poland.

For the majority of Alfred’s life, he worked in auto body repair, most notably at Oxford Body Shop & Garage and Harold’s Motor Co.

He was a member of the Past Redman, Knights of Pythias, AARP, Eagles Club of Windham and Oxford Grange, and was a former member of the Minot Methodist Church.

Alfred enjoyed spending time with his family and talking on his CB radio.

He is survived by a son, Peter Stone of New Jersey; daughters, Gloria Pelletier and husband, Paul Pelletier, Sandra Lupo and husband, Mike Lupo, of Oxford, and Rose Storm of Winslow; sisters, Josephine Duguay of Auburn and Alice Shirley of Messina, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Annie Stone; three brothers, Aldoph, Franklin and Raymond Stone; a stepson, Robert George of Durham; a daughter, Leann Schoonmaker of Otisfield; and a son, Alfred L. Stone Jr., aka Freddy.
