FARMINGTON — Franklin County Community College Network has announced local educational and scholarship opportunities, including Central Maine Community College classes in Franklin County and the Comp TIA A+ Certification through CMCC’s Maine is IT! grant.
The Comp TIA A+ Certification employment opportunities include IT support technician and technical support specialist. The certification program is available through the RSU 9 Adult Basic Education Program and begins in late September. The college class registration deadline is Aug. 14.
Denise Castonguay became unemployed after working for a local school system for 14 years. She enrolled in the Medical Assistant Program at Central Maine Community College. A scholarship helped her with travel costs, supplies and a computer.
“The four classes I’m taking this fall will enable me to return to the workforce as soon as possible,” Castonguay said.
Charity Christopher is enrolled in a Human Services Program and is looking forward to a career doing what she loves — simply helping people. A scholarship helps her cover costs above tuition.
Scholarships, supported by the Maine Community Foundation, are available through the network, which has made 168 awards to citizens throughout Franklin County, totaling over $85,000.
