NOKOMIS, Fla. — Karla J. Roy, 66, of 1804 Kilpatrick Road, Nokomis, Fla., died Thursday, July 23.
Born Jan. 29, 1949 in Lewiston, she was the daughter of Russell and Jeannette Gilman. She attended Edward Little High School. On July 31, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard D. Roy.
Karla was a dedicated wife; she worked side by side with her husband over the years as they homesteaded, building several homes and operating multiple businesses, including a gas station, trading post, lunch counter and trucking company.
Karla was a devout Christian; she loved Jesus and her family. She was a member of the Venice Church of the Nazarene, where she attended services, participated in prayer groups and volunteered countless hours with Manna Ministries, serving the less fortunate.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her two children, Chad Roy of Auburn, Robin and her husband, John Tucker, of Nokomis, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kelly Walker, Mandy Roy, Richard Roy, Rene Roy and Mackenzie Downs; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her only sister, Linda Smith.
