SIDNEY — A tractor-trailer loaded with 90,000 pounds of lumber ran off Interstate 95 northbound in Sidney on Wednesday morning.

The truck was operated by John Rancourt, 32, of Jay, who likely fell asleep, according to a written statement from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Nearly all of the wood broke loose from the trailer after it slammed into a rock ledge. Both truck and trailer were demolished.

Rancourt escaped the wreck unhurt.

According to authorities, no violations were found.
