AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced the August events for teens.

“Until Tuesday: Luis & Tuesday’s Story” will be the topic from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Author and Iraq War veteran Luis Carlos Montalvan and his service dog, Tuesday, will be here to share their story.

The event is open to all ages and will include a demonstration of how Tuesday assists Capt. Montalvan in his daily life. There will be a Q&A session, copies of his two books for sale (“Until Tuesday” and “Tuesday Tucks Me In”), a book signing and photo opportunities. Free tickets are available at the Reference Desk on the second floor.

The Teen Anime Club meets from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, in the Androscoggin Community Room.

Teens, ages 12-18, can drop in to talk about their favorite (or least favorite) manga, watch the week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing their own characters. The program was made possible by a gift of the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Snacks will be provided.

Teens Unmask! Heroes in the Movies will meet from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in the Androscoggin Community Room.

This month, staff will feature real-life hero Louis Zamperini in the movie “Unbroken.” The program will also include a light snack and is for teens ages 12-18.

Teens! Q+A with Outright L/A will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, in the Androscoggin Community Room.

This summer, the library has partnered with Outright L/A to offer Queers + Allies (Q+A), a youth-driven, and educational program where LGBTQQAI, identifying students and straight allies can work together to create a positive, fun space. Q+A will create the opportunity for an open and relaxed atmosphere to share in self-expression, exploration, support and advocacy for political and social change.

There will be games, art projects, guest speakers, field trips and more. The program is part of the “Unmask!” Summer Reading Program, exploring the hero in you, and is open to youth ages 13-18 (including recently graduated seniors).

Teen Gaming Hour will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, and Friday, Aug. 28, in the Androscoggin Community Room. XBox and Wii are available. It is for teens, ages 12-18. This program was made possible by a gift of the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.

Teens! SAPRS Summer Movie Series will continue from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, in the Androscoggin Community Room.

Ages 13-18 are invited to the series hosted by Molly from the Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services (SAPRS). The series will feature four movies dealing with various teen issues, including healthy relationships, peer pressure, safety and breaking stereotypes. The featured movie on this date will be “The Kite Runner.” There will be snacks and conversation.

Teens Unmask! Summer Reading Program Finale will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, in the Androscoggin Community Room.

Teens are invited to dress up as their favorite superhero (optional); there will be a prize awarded for the best costume. Pizza will be available and summer reading program prize winners will be announced. The program is for ages 12-18.

DIY Teens! Media Club will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. Movies! Music! Graphic arts! If teens can imagine it, they can create it in the Media Lab, making trailers, podcasts and more that will be posted on the website.
