ROME — The Sandy River Ramblers, one of the busiest acoustic bands in central Maine, will bring their crowd-pleasing stage show to the Mt. Phillip Grange in Rome on Saturday, Aug. 8.

The Ramblers feature stunning instrumental skills on fiddle and banjo, gorgeous three-part harmony vocals, large doses of Maine humor, and great songs about Maine. Nationally-known songwriter Stan Keach (a Rome resident) writes most of the original songs the Ramblers perform. Twenty-one-year-old singer (and upright bassist) Julie Churchill of Livermore Falls is, according to Keach, “one of the best singers in Maine.”

Their recent CD, Cry of the Loon and other original songs about Maine, has been called “a keeper… and gift to Mainers” by Maine writer George Smith (Bangor Daily News). Songs such as “Slow Down (You’ll Hit a Moose),” and “Boots From L. L. Bean” have been big crowd-pleasers, but the band also features poignant songs and fiddle tunes that defy audience members to sit still. “It’ll be a show that’s full of variety;” promises Keach, “something for everybody.”

The concert starts at 7 p.m. The Mt. Phillip Grange is on the corner of Rte. 27 and Rte. 225 at Rome Corner. Refreshments will be sold at intermission. Admission: $7 for adults, $5 for students 5-18, free for children under 5. This concert will benefit the Mt. Phillip Grange.
