1927 – 2015

AUBURN — Katharine F. Stevens died peacefully Wednesday morning, Aug. 5, at her residence at Schooner Estates.

She was born in Van Buren on Nov. 30, 1927, the daughter of Norris Frederick and Irene (Archambault) Stevens.

Katharine was raised in Fort Kent and moved to Lewiston, where she graduated from Lewiston High School as an honor student in 1945.

She worked in banking, as well as being executive assistant to Stanley R. Tupper, U.S. Ambassador to Expo 67 in Montreal, Canada. Upon returning to the United States, she served in higher education administration within the University of Maine System, and for 34 years, at Bates College.

Survivors include her sister, Jean A. Bott of Yarmouth; and many loving cousins, including her special caregiver, Anne Archambault, and her family of Freeport.
