PARIS — Police said a Sumner man is accused of inappropriately touching two teenage girls he hired to clean his trailer.

Kevin Ayer Sr., 48, was arrested at his home at around noon Monday, Aug. 3, after police received complaints from the girls’ parents that graphic photos of their children had been taken at his request.

Ayer made an initial appearance in Farmington court via videoconferencing from the Oxford County Jail in Paris on Wednesday afternoon. He faces two counts of misdemeanor unlawful sexual contact, misdemeanor assault and violating conditions of his release.

According to an affidavit by Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Witham, Ayer hired the girls to clean his trailer July 27. When they arrived he inappropriately touched them and repeatedly asked them to engage in sex acts in return for money, the statement said.

Ayer has been free on bail pending resolution of a 2013 court case in which he is accused of felony unlawful sexual contact with a girl under age 12. That charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 30 years.

Ayer pleaded not guilty to the charge and is negotiating to serve a six-month jail sentence, after which he would be allowed to plead to a less serious charge, according to documents filed by his attorney with Oxford County Unified Court.

As a result of the charges brought this week, Oxford County Assistant District Attorney Richard Beauchesne has filed a motion to revoke Ayer’s bail.

A corrections officer at the Oxford County Jail said Ayer was transferred to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland on Wednesday and is being held on $3,000 cash bail.
