ROXBURY — The Board of Selectmen voted Tuesday evening to accept a $2,500 bid from Revise to create and manage a website for the town.

The town uses a Facebook page to inform residents of town business. Residents voted in March to raise and appropriate $2,500 to create a town website.

Board of Selectmen Chairman John Sutton said Tuesday that the town received four bids last month, ranging from $1,600 to $2,500.

“We opened the bids at our July 28 meeting, and had a spreadsheet of the bid proposals put together,” Sutton said. “We had our treasurer, Renee Hodsdon, review each of the bids.”

Hodsdon said she visited websites that each of the bidders left as references and decided, “the company known as ‘Revise’ seemed like the best choice for the town.”

“’Revise seems to have a lot of experience in developing and managing websites for other government agencies,” Hodsdon wrote.

Sutton said a town website would “help people get building permit applications and let them have a better idea of when we hold meetings.”

In other business, selectmen voted to table discussion on whether to approve a $73,300 bid from Bruce Manzer Inc. to pave the town hall parking lot until the entire board was at a meeting.

Selectman Tim DeRouche did not attend Tuesday’s meeting.

Sutton said the bid was “over the amount we approved at town meeting. Therefore, I think it’s only right that we wait until Tim is at the meeting before we agree or disagree on a number,” Sutton said.
