OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Friday, Aug. 7, in the Recreation Building on King Street where a 10-table Mitchell movement was played.

First, flight A, north/south, Bailey Geeslin (Bridgton) and Richard Balian (Waterford); second, Mike Quinn (Otisfield) and Mike True (Auburn); third, Connie and Ron Reynolds (Auburn); fourth, Marilyn and Richard Canton (Bridgton), also first in flight B. Second in flight B, Eleanor and Lindy Wigton (Lewiston); third, Jim Dickens (Naples) and Denny Raymond (Waterford), also first in flight C; fourth in B, Shelly and David Kaminsky (Bridgton), also second in flight C; third in C, Jim Krainin (Naples) and Milt McKeen Jr. (Bridgton); fourth in C, Diana and Jim Fallon (Bridgton).

There will be another game at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, at the Recreation Building. All bridge players are welcome. A partner is always guaranteed.

Temple Historical Society meeting

TEMPLE — The Temple Historical Society’s annual meeting and open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Red Schoolhouse on the Intervale and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Historical Society’s Archive Room in the Town Hall on Route 43.

Refreshments will be served at the Schoolhouse.

Blood drive at OHCHS Monday

PARIS — A community blood drive for the Red Cross will be held from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School cafeteria, 256 Main St.

The blood drive is hosted by the Christ Episcopal Church and St. Catherine of Sienna Church as part of their service to the community.

There is always a need for donated blood. O-negative, A-negative and B-negative are needed.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will be taken first.

Society to discuss maple sugaring

WEST PARIS — West Paris Historical Society will meet for a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, with a short meeting at 7 p.m.

The program after the meeting will be a talk about maple sugaring and more by the Dunhams from Greenwood.

The museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday, Aug. 19 and 23.

The July meeting included brownies with ice cream and re-elections of the same officers. The program by sisters, Patti Adams and Norma Salway, was a display of aprons going back 100 years. Calendar winners were drawn. A total of $690 was won.

Chicken pie supper Aug. 22

PARIS — AMVETS Post 777 will host a chicken pie supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at VFW Post 9787, 58 East Main St.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.
