Freedom mother, boyfriend accused of smoking pot with child

FREEDOM — A local woman and her boyfriend have been charged after allegedly smoking marijuana with her 13-year-old son, according to police.

A concerned individual called the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office at the beginning of August to complain that the boy had been given the drug by his relatives, and Detective Gerald Lincoln investigated, Chief Deputy Jason Trundy wrote Friday morning in a news release.

After the investigation, the detective determined Jasmine Schmidt, 33, and Paul Rogers, 29, both of Freedom, had supplied and consumed marijuana with the boy. As a result of the investigation, a usable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were turned over by Schmidt and Rogers.

Schmidt was issued summonses for aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs, a class C felony, and the civil violations of possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rogers was issued summonses for aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Schmidt and Rogers are scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Sept. 11.
