MECHANIC FALLS — RSU 16 Adult Education has announced upcoming classes. The following classes will be offered:

PiYo

Leave your shoes at the door and be ready to have a blast! Sweat, stretch and strengthen – all in one workout! Using only your body weight, you’ll perform a series of low-impact, high-intensity Pilates and yoga-inspired moves to work every muscle in your body. The result? A long, lean, incredibly-defined physique. Participants may choose from two sections. The first one will be held Mondays from Sept. 14 to Oct. 26. from 6 to 7 p.m. This section is six weeks. The registration fee is $30. The second section will be Thursdays from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. This section is eight weeks. The registration fee is $40.

Blueberry Freezer Jam

Don’t let the fruits of your labor go to waste! Put those blueberries to use! In less than one hour, you can prep, cook and process summer’s bounty of fresh berries into jars of freezer jam. This quick and easy method is a great way to have fresh-tasting jam all year long. This class will be offered Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. The registration fee is $10 and includes everything needed to make one jar of jam.

New Dog Owners

Don Weeks, Shangri-La Kennels

Thinking about getting a puppy? Just brought a new dog home? Bring your questions and concerns! This informational class will help you get started, giving you the ability to turn that newest member of your home into a pet that all will love and enjoy for many years. Learn how to properly raise a puppy or welcome that new dog into your home responsibly, including housebreaking, socialization, feeding, grooming, training and other topics needed for the proper care your pet requires and deserves. This class will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 6., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The registration fee is $9.

Painting For Beginners

Have you ever wanted to try painting with acrylics? This one-night beginner class will help you find your style and give you the skills you need to achieve the results you desire! This class will be offered Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. The registration fee is $35 and includes all materials needed for one 8-by-10 painting.

College Transitions Program

If you live in Androscoggin County and are planning to enroll in college in the next 12 to 18 months, this free program is designed to help you prepare for, get accepted to and be successful in college. The College Transitions Program provides a comprehensive review of reading, writing and math in a college-style setting. Both face-to-face and online interaction will be included – in the true spirit of current college trends. If you have been away from the classroom for awhile, this can save you the time and energy that is typically spent adjusting to a new environment, in order to better focus on the rest of your college experience. College application and financial aid processes will also be addressed. Classes will begin in late September.
