1939 – 2015

AUGUSTA — Marie “Lucy” Beliveau, 76, passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

Lucy was born on May 16, 1939, in Lewiston, the daughter of Dorian and Florida (Gauthier) Beliveau.

Lucy is survived by her brother, Roger, and predeceased by her parents.

Lucy was a longterm resident of the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation and attended Cobbossee Integration Center for more than 33 years.

Lucy was a woman of few words, but when she spoke, her caring and compassion came shining through. She dearly loved her staff at Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation, her direct support staff through Uplift and her long-term case manager of more than 10 years, “That Girl,” Rayleen.

Lucy looked forward to her community outings, visiting people’s homes and cooking. She particularly loved her breakfasts with Jean and Betty-Jean and her daily vanilla coffee at McDonald’s or Tim Hortons, where she enjoyed developing friendships with employees and regular customers, though she always needed reassurance that she would be returning home after her adventures.

Lucy was always appreciative of others’ generosity and expressed her gratitude by telling people she liked them. At home, Lucy enjoyed sitting in the common area, doing her beads and watching people. She loved music, including Shania Twain, John Denver and especially Elvis Presley! Lucy had a sweet, gentle soul with a smile that could light up a room and an infectious personality. She loved school buses, watching children play, cats, laughing, joking and looking at photos. She also enjoyed spending time with her peers and had a special fondness for her friend, Bob, and her late longtime friend, April.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your life, Lucy. Your sweet spirit will always live in our hearts. In the words of her special friend, Bob, “She is with Jesus now.”
