LEWISTON — With a four-way race for mayor and challengers for just about every City Council seat, November’s municipal ballots could be crowded.

Potential candidates have until 4:30 p.m. Friday to complete their nomination papers to reserve a spot on the ballot. They can register and pick them up at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall.

As of Monday, nine City Council candidates have confirmed spots on the ballot for one of the seven open seats, while eight more continue to circulate nomination petitions.

Four candidates have confirmed spots for the mayor’s race. They are Mayor Robert Macdonald, Ben Chin, Stephen Morgan and Charles A. Soule. Stan Pelletier and Luke Jensen are collecting signatures to qualify for the ballot.

In the race for School Committee, eight candidates have confirmed their places on the ballot, while five others continue to collect signatures.

Mayoral candidates must collect between 100 and 200 signatures from residents living anywhere in Lewiston. City Council and School Committee candidates have to collect between 50 and 100 signatures.
