I offer congratulations to the RSU 16 School Committee members. Swift action was indeed required to restructure the central office staff. Employees there need applause, I suppose.
Not only were they able to hire a business manager in fewer than 30 days after the position was approved by a majority of Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland voters, but they also were able to find a new assistant superintendent as well (Sun Journal, Aug. 26).
What happened to the old assistant superintendent? The article failed to mention if and when a resignation was tendered. I hope it was a heartfelt moment.
The candle must have been burning at both ends with endless committee meetings to comb over the applications for the two key central office staff positions. When will the minutes of those meetings be available for public consumption?
There must have been some moments of high drama in the course of the decision-making processes. Oh, to have been a fly on that wall during those hot, humid evenings.
Pardon me if I feel ecstatic over it all. I just can’t get over the joy of a bureaucracy reigning supreme while awaiting those retirement benefits as educational mediocrity remains steadfast.
