Lewiston Fire Department Lt. William Wallace said firefighters are unsure what caused the fire, but that the truck’s driver acted quickly and pulled the vehicle into the back lot at Melanson’s Garage at 210 Bartlett St.
“He pulled it way out back, out away from everything, and called us and we went out and put it out,” Wallace said.
Crews first tried to put the fire out with extinguishers but eventually had to resort to a fire hose to quell the blaze, Wallace said. The truck appeared to be a total loss, Wallace said.
