Thanks to Mayor Jonathan LaBonte for his quick action to address what was a dangerous situation.
New traffic arrows painted on Route 4 at Lake Shore Drive were not right. Previously, a center turning lane was created for both north and south traffic. Newly painted arrows incorrectly created a second turning lane — in the passing lane.
There should not have been two turning lanes onto Lake Shore Drive. That could cause needless accidents.
LaBonte responded immediately to address the issue. I am impressed at how quickly the extraneous left turn arrows in the passing lane were painted over black. Route 4 is now safer because of the urgency that LaBonte exhibited.
He has proven himself to be accessible, concerned, responsive and he got the job done fast. Jonathan LaBonte deserves Auburn residents’ support in November. He is both a man of conviction and a man of action.
