Church services resume
PARIS — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street will resume regular 10 a.m. church services Sept. 13. Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the worship service with a sermon topic “Who Are We Anyway?” Music director is Donna Hurd and Renee Wales directs the Sunday School. Coffee and fellowship follow the worship service.
Anita White will provide the sermon Sept. 20 and Moore-Leamon will lead Sept. 27.
All beliefs are welcomed and celebrated. The church is wheelchair accessible.
Reeds Mill to host hymn-sing
MADRID – Reeds Mill Church, on Reeds Mill Road, will host its annual fall hymn-sing at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.
The event, first started in 1978, attracts people from near and far who enjoy the serenity of the one-room historical church despite the absence of electricity, water and central heat. The event will last for an hour.
Everyone is welcome. The kerosene lamps will be lit, but a flashlight is recommended.

WMBC plans potluck cookout
NEW PORTLAND — The Western Mountains Baptist Church will host a potluck cookout after worship services Sunday, Sept. 13.
WMBC will provide hot-dogs, buns and potato chips. Participants should bring salads, desserts or beverages to share, including another type of meat that can be barbecued.
The event is open to the public and is planned to encourage fellowship and be fun.

WMBC to show drive-in movie
NEW PORTLAND — The Western Mountains Baptist Church will host a drive-in movie at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the church.
Viewers can bring vehicles with a working radios and favorite theater candy to see “God’s Not Dead,” which will be projected onto the outside wall of the church.
There is no charge, and free popcorn will be provided.
In case of inclement weather, the movie will be shown inside the church.

Prayer Breakfast in Carthage
CARTHAGE — The Carthage Union Church will host a Women’s Prayer Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. To reserve a seat, call 207-562-7762.
Congregational church hosting open house
NORWAY — The Second Congregational Church at 205 Main St. will hold an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, for families interested in learning more about the church’s Christian education programs for children and youth.
Staff and teachers will be present to welcome people and show everyone the classrooms. The Church School, which meets Sunday mornings at 10 a.m., includes a nursery for children 3 and younger. The Church School welcomes children in all grades. Early registration is possible on Sept. 17 or 20, the first Sunday of classes.
After worshipping during July and August at 9 a.m., worship has now returned to 10 a.m. The Rev. Peter Foss is the interim pastor, Shirli Allen-Heald is the choir director and Elaine Emery is the organist.
Informal vesper services will be held on the third Sunday of each month at 5:30 p.m. At the first vesper service Sept. 20, attendees are invited to bring poems and short readings that celebrate the earth, its beauty and harvest.
