AUGUSTA — Lewiston native Mark Tardif has been named director of communication, marketing and production services at University College, an administrative unit of the University of Maine at Augusta. 

Tardif has held teaching, journalism, administrative and communications positions in Maine, Massachusetts and London, U.K. For more than a decade, he served Unity College as associate director of college communications and most recently as associate director of media relations. He holds a bachelor of science degree in English, a master of science degree in teaching, English education, and a master of science degree in computer technology education.

University College provides centralized services to students and faculty engaged in online and distance programs offered by the campuses of the University of Maine System. Onsite, online, hybrid and ITV instruction is delivered live and asynchronously by faculty from University of Maine system campuses to University College Centers and sites across Maine. Many courses use streaming video, allowing students to view lectures online. University College has a center in Paris.
