Lithuanian Heritage Picnic set
RUMFORD — The Lithuanian Heritage Picnic will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Black Mountain of Maine.
Doors open at 11:30. Everyone is welcome.
Grange hosts pork supper
BETHEL — Alder River Grange will host a pork supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1895 Intervale Road.
The cost of the meal is $8 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12.
Crafts association schedules meetings
FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Arts and Crafts Association has scheduled a series of meetings this fall to make plans for its annual holiday craft show, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, at the UMF Student Center.
The first meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the University of Maine at Farmington North Dining Hall. Crafters’ registration begins at 6:30 p.m. with a business session to follow at 7 p.m. New members are welcome, but are encouraged to sign up early.
Subsequent meetings will be held Oct. 20 and Nov. 17, same time and location.
‘Ag Day’ at Farmington Fairgrounds
FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District will host “Ag Day,” the 25th agricultural-environmental education day, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, at the Farmington Fairgrounds.
The goal of the day is to expose students to the importance of agriculture and to give them greater appreciation for the natural resources and how to care for them. This includes the process of farming, the conservation of agricultural resources and the economic and historical contribution of agriculture to the region.
Land Trust presentation Sept. 23
BETHEL — The September event in the Mahoosuc Land Trust’s 2015 speaker series will be “This Is Your Drinking Water.”
The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at McLaughlin Auditorium on the Gould Academy campus.
Laurel Jackson, a water resources specialist at the Portland Water District and a member of the Bethel Water District will be the speaker.
Rehearsals set for Christmas for Teen Benefit chorus
SOUTH PARIS — Christmas for Teen Benefit show chorus will begin rehearsing Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School music room. Rehearsals will continue Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Singers from grades six to 12 and adults are invited to participate. The theme this year is “A Talent Spectacular.” The show will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, with a storm date of 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
The show will be directed by Cynthia Wescott with Jo Ellen Carter as guest conductor. Sally Riman will be the assistant director and Virginia Noble will be the accompanist. Talented teens and adults are encouraged to participate as singers, dancers, comedians, instrumentalists and backstage workers.
