1950 – 2015
OXFORD — Paul Edward Derenburger, 65, of Oxford passed away Monday, Sept. 14, at home surrounded by family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Newton Township, Ohio, to Anna and Hollis Irvin Derenburger. He married Elizabeth Plummer on Dec. 18, 1971, and had three children.
Paul worked as a machinist prior to operating his own excavation company. He later worked at Pike Industries until forced into retirement by his illness. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed racing and working on anything with an engine.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Derenburger of Oxford; daughter, Heather, her husband, Dan Cunningham, and their children, Eron and Payton; son, Paul, his wife, Ena, and their daughter, Tristen; daughter, Miranda, her husband, Brad Demers, and their children, Brecken and Fallon. Paul is also survived by his sister, Julia Derenburger; and brothers, Patrick Derenburger and John Dillard; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by brothers, Ray Derenburger, Frank Dillard and Jack Derenburger; sister, Jennifer Derenburger; and parents, Anna Dillard and Hollis Derenburger.
Paul and his family would like to thank Dr. Medd and Dr. Benton, along with the infusion staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital and Beacon Hospice caregivers. He would like to let his friends from the infusion room know “that the DJ has left the building.”
