PORTLAND — Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is appearing at a middle school in Maine’s largest city as she courts voters while seeking the Democratic nomination.
Clinton will appear at King Middle School in the Portland on Friday. She is scheduled to speak at the event at about 4:15 p.m. The appearance will be open to the public.
A Clinton spokesman says the event is a “grassroots organizing meeting.”
The former secretary of state is working to build campaign infrastructure outside the early primary states.
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, former senators Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island and Jim Webb of Virginia and Harvard professor Lawrence Lessig are also campaigning for the Democratic nomination.
