1932 – 2015

GREENE — Raymond L. Dufour, 83, of College Road, died Friday, Sept. 18, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 28, 1932, a son of the late Augustine and Eva Dufour. He worked and lived most of his life in the Lewiston area, and in 1951 he married his wife of 58 years, Laurette Bergeron. Raymond worked at PepsiCo for many years, then started his own business, ”B & R Carpet,” and retired from the carpenter’s union. After retiring, he traveled to nearly every state in the nation with his wife Laurette in their motor home, and he enjoyed fishing and exploring Alaska. They wintered in Florida for the past 30 years.

Raymond was a devoted Catholic who recognized that faith in the good works of God could be found in his family, his friends, and in the world around him. He was always the first person to provide a kind word, a supportive shoulder, or open a door to those in need.

He is survived by his loving children, Dot Fernald and Husband, Vic Labrecque, Don Dufour and his wife, Michelle, Dan Dufour and his wife, Rose Marie, Diane Barnies and her husband, Chuck, Paul Cote and his wife, Doris, Doris St. Pierre and her husband, George; grandchildren, Tom Mathieu, Lisa Mathieu, Ray Robert and wife, Sarah, Scott Robert and Erika, Jason and wife, Erika, Corey Dufour, Aimee Dufour, Carrie Quagliarole and husband, Shawn, Rosemarie Murphy, George St. Pierre, Diane Bureau and her husband, Dan, and Denise Cote. And he was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ashlee, Zack, Hudson, Charlie, Kassandra, Danny, Abigail, Jace, Julia, Justin, Tania, Kenzie, Kane, Sean, Joe, Josh and Rachel.

He was predeceased by his loving wife; his brothers, Florian, Marcel, Don, Victor and Roger; and a sister, Marie.
