JAY — A Wilton man was charged with possessing heroin after a report of erratic driving on Crash Road, Detective Michael Mejia said.

Jody Morris, 39, was stopped on Main Street after Officer Stephanie Guillemette found his vehicle shortly after the 2:11 p.m. complaint, he said. Morris failed to produce any identification and could not correctly spell the name he identified himself with, Mejia said in a release.

Morris was later positively identified.

Mejia said Morris knew about his active warrant for violation of bail.

Morris was arrested and taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington because of a medical emergency. He was booked Saturday at the Franklin County jail in Farmington.

Besides the active warrant, Jay police arrested Morris on a felony charge of possession of heroin and misdemeanor charges of operating under the influence, violation of condition of release and failure to provide correct name. He also was charged with a civil violation of possession of drug paraphernalia, Mejia said.

An additional summons on a misdemeanor charge of negotiating a worthless instrument was issued to Morris in an unrelated investigation, Mejia said.

Morris was being held on $500 cash bail Monday afternoon.
