FARMINGTON — McDonald’s plans to open its new Main Street restaurant Friday, Oct. 2, an officials said.

“Everything is brand new,” Larry Johnston, senior area supervisor for the fast-food chain, said.

The former restaurant was 42 years old and was demolished to make way for a new building.

Because the restaurant is across from Hippach Field, McDonald’s is making a donation to Farmington Parks and Recreation Department as part of the opening celebration. It is also donating a percentage of all sales Oct. 2-4 to the W.G. Mallett School, Johnston said.

Plans for the donations will be explained by Matt Foster, director of Parks and Recreation, and by Principal Tracy Williams during an invitation-only preview party before the opening.

One prominent new feature of the restaurant is a double order station for takeout orders. There is a modern dining area with television and WiFi, he said, and an automated beverage service that fills an order when it is taken.

Along with the donation and fundraising effort for the Mallett School, McDonald’s planned some opening specials for customers, including 42-cent cheeseburgers Oct. 7 to acknowledge the age of the old building.

There is a monthlong raffle for a two-night stay at Mills Farm in Meredith, N.H., and ski passes to Sugarloaf and Sunday River.

The local McDonald’s will join a nationwide program starting in October to serve breakfast all day.

While former employees were offered positions at McDonald’s in other towns, about 85 percent of them will return, he said.

The Farmington McDonald’s is owned by The Napoli Group LLC of Amherst, N.H.
