Cougars have their coach back after a medical scare and have their swagger back after a running-time rout of Lawrence at Keyes Field.

Gray-New Gloucester (3-0) at Spruce Mountain (1-2)

The latest “biggest game in school history” for Patriots is actually more crucial to the Phoenix, who need a win to build momentum for October.

Poland (1-2) at Lake Region (0-3)

Knights have been in a win-big, lose-big pattern the past two seasons. The Rumble for Route 11 is one that has fallen into the ‘W’ category lately.

Wells (2-1) at Mountain Valley (1-2)

Nobody outside Fryeburg imagined the Raiders’ win at Warriors’ homecoming, but it probably fuels the Falcons’ hopes of an upset, as well.

Maranacook (2-0) at Winthrop/Monmouth (2-1)

Ramblers will honor 1995 regional championship team. As for the game, it has the potential to be another defensive squeaker in fun Class D South chase.

Edward Little (2-1) at Cheverus (2-1)

Saturday, 12:30 p.m.

Biggest spot for the Red Eddies since 2008. Stags haven’t been in a close game yet, so EL would love to apply pressure and see how Cheverus handles it.

Portland (3-0) at Oxford Hills/Buckfield (0-3)

Saturday, 1 p.m.

As was demonstrated two years ago, Bulldogs are a tough homecoming assignment. Vikings can’t turn it over if they hope to compete.

Dirigo (1-2) at Lisbon (2-0)

Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Throw out Cougars’ 56-0 win over Telstar and the two teams’ other four contests all have been settled by a touchdown. Conventional wisdom says expect another.

Oak Hill (3-0) at Telstar (0-2)

Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Not an enviable spot for either team. State champion Raiders want to stay on track and stay healthy. Rebels can’t let final score take eyes off future.
