JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas — U.S. Air Force Airman Benjamin O. Kates graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Kates graduated with distinction as an honor graduate.

Kates completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Kates has earned four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force for completing basic training.

He is the son of Daniel Kates of Randolph and Daniele Fraser of Lisbon Falls. He is also the brother of Chris Kates and Jordan Kates.

Kates is a 2013 graduate of Lisbon High School.
