AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced its programming for children in October.
KIDS! Let’s Pretend — 10 to 11 a.m. Fridays, Oct. 2 to 30, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room: This is a five-week play group for children ages 2 to 5. Parents and children will explore different professions each week by reading a story, learning themes, creating a related craft and pretending. Children’s imaginations will soar! The professions will be dinosaur hunters on Oct. 2, construction workers on Oct. 9, circus performers on Oct. 16, astronauts on Oct. 23 and pirates on Oct. 30. This program is free, and registration is not required.
KIDS! LEGO Club — 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room: The library hosts a monthly LEGO Club for kids ages 5 and older the first Friday of every month. The library will provide the space and the LEGOs. Kids just need to come with their ideas and imaginations. Space is limited, so the program will be run on a first come, first served basis. Please be advised there will be small pieces that present a choking hazard. This program is not suitable for very young children.
Sprouts — 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 3 to 31, in the Children’s Room: Sprouts is a rousing lap sit program for babies through 36-months and their caregivers. Participants gather on the story quilt with Heather to enjoy songs, nursery rhymes and dancing, while making new friends.
Sweet Peas — 10:30 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Oct. 5, 19, and 26, in the Children’s Room: Miss Heather will lead a lap-sit program for children ages 24 to 36 months and a parent on the story quilt. We’ll share stories, songs, rhythm instruments, finger plays and flannel board fun.
Chinese Story Time —5 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 5, 19 and 26, in the Maggie Trafton Room: The Auburn Public Library will partner with Yu Li Huang (Lilly Huang) to offer a four-week story time in English and Chinese. Kids will learn some Chinese words and phrases and a bit about Chinese culture. FMI: [email protected].
Pre-School Story Time — 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 7 to 28, in the Children’s Room: The Pre-school story program is geared for children ages 3 to 5 and experienced listeners who are almost 3. Participants will gather in the Children’s Room before moving to the program room for stories, songs and a craft.
TWEENS DIY! Make A Halloween Beaded Keychain — 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room: Kids ages 9 to 12 are invited to join Heather to make beaded keychains with a Halloween theme. Space is limited in this free workshop. Registration is required.
KIDS! Saturday Stories — 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in the Children’s Room: Local volunteer story lady, Judy D’Amour will lead children in interactive stories, rhymes, songs and a craft. This program is best for children from 2 to 6 years. All are welcome.
KIDS! BUGS! BUGS! BUGS! — 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room: Bug enthusiast Jon Wallace and teach about the different bugs he raises and exhibits. This program is best suited for third-graders and older. Registration is required.
TWEENS DIY! Paint a Halloween Pumpkin — 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room: Tweens ages 8 to may Heather to paint a Halloween pumpkin. All materials will be provided by the library. Space is limited, registration is required.
The library will be closed Monday, Oct. 12, in observance of Columbus Day.
