Lewiston’s Mayor Robert Macdonald has a great idea (Sun Journal, Sept. 25). No one is trying to “shame” welfare recipients who truly need help. But “shame” is the way opposition will try to kill this public list of welfare recipients.
Maine taxpayers are sick and tired of carrying the lazy and system players using welfare as a way of life. The use of taxpayer money should be listed. Add no bail, tattoos, liquor or cigarettes, just to name a few. Drug testing might also lower the number of people on the dole.
Enough is enough.
People everywhere know welfare abusers. It is time the working class gets a break.
Reduce welfare to only those who truly need it. There is no shame in needing help.
