OXFORD — Police said a Norway driver was injured Wednesday morning in a collision at Oxford Street and Route 26 during a heavy rainstorm.
Julie Maxim, 35, was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway with minor injuries, was treated and released, Oxford police officer Dan Hastings said.
The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Carol Cox, 68, of Bryant Pond. Neither she nor her passenger, 69-year-old Chester Brown, were injured, Hastings said.
Hastings said Maxim was turning left from Oxford Street onto Route 26 when her 2002 Ford Escort and Cox’s 2004 Volkswagen Passat traveling north on Route 26 collided.
Hasting said a heavy downpour affecting visibility likely was a factor in the crash. He said Maxim reported a tractor-trailer was pulling onto Oxford Street and she was unable to see beyond the truck for oncoming vehicles.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. All occupants were wearing seat belts.
Oxford Police Department and Oxford Fire and Rescue responded. Route 26 was closed in both directions after the 10:50 a.m. accident.
