AUBURN — Comedic storyteller Lynne Cullen will bring laughs, hoots and hollers to the Auburn Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, when she presents her program, “Hopeful Monsters: Absurd and Comic Tales of Life Among the Naked Apes.”

In an extended stand-up comedy style routine, Cullen will introduce attendees to a real-life Lois Lane, two cat burglars (one feline, one human), a junk food goddess and many more colorful characters.

Cullen was trained in Yorkshire, England, and draws her inspiration from many sources. Her inspirations include old Warner Brothers’ cartoons, comic books, Rod Serling, folktales, mythology and growing up in the Catholic working-class town of Waterbury, Connecticut. She has performed at parties, pubs, schools and festivals. Three of Cullen’s plays have been produced for the Maine Short Play Festival in Portland.

This event is free and open to the public. The event will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room.
