LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 73 board Monday decided to hold a scholarship fundraiser to honor former board member Diane Gould of Livermore.

Superintendent Kenneth Healey said the fundraiser is tentatively set for February. The money will go to a student at Spruce Mountain High School in Jay.

Gould died in an automobile accident last year.

In other matters, Michele Coates of Livermore was hired as business manager. The former Central Maine Power Co. employee will begin her duties in mid-October.

She succeeds Stacie Field, who took a similar position with RSU 16 in Poland.

The board granted permission for the high school robotics team to host a Lego League qualifying event in November. It also approved an overnight trip for Spruce Mountain Middle School eighth-graders to Boston on May 26-27.

Healey said 1,517 students were enrolled in RSU 73 as of this week. That number is down slightly from the end of the 2014-15 school year.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Central Office.
