Food Mobile to visit Farmington
FARMINGTON — Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Food Mobile will distribute food, including fresh produce, meat and non-perishable items, to people in need from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Care and Share Food Closet, 508 Fairbanks Road.
The Food Mobile allows Good Shepherd Food Bank to expand outreach to Maine’s neediest and most underserved communities.
Designed to be a low-barrier distribution, the Food Mobile visits communities with a demand for emergency and supplemental food that has outgrown the capacity of local food pantries.
The distribution has been made possible through the generosity of Care and Share Food Closet of F.A.E.M.

Historical Society to meet Oct. 8.
DIXFIELD — Dixfield Historical Society will host its annual meeting Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Museum House on Main Street.
The business meeting with election of officers will start at 6:30 p.m. followed by a short program beginning at 7 p.m. Jane Peterson from the Rumford Historical Society will present local Civil War history compiled last year through a grant with Regional School Unit 10. Everyone is welcome.
Chesterville Poetry Night
CHESTERVILLE — Organizers are gearing up for the first-ever Chesterville Poetry Night from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the Chesterville Center Meeting House. The free event is meant to attract Chesterville poets of all ages and levels of experience.
Time at the microphone will be determined based on the number of participants who show up, but equal opportunity will be given. Original poetry presented at the event will be published in a booklet afterward, with permission of the poet.
The Chesterville Center Meeting House is located at One Borough Road, on the corner with Zions Hill Road, across from the Chesterville Honor Roll monument.

Rumford Hospital Auxiliary to host sale
RUMFORD — The Rumford Hospital Auxiliary will hold its Attic Treasure Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at 209 Lincoln Ave.
Small furniture, artwork, holiday decor, books and small kitchen appliances will be for sale. Hot cider and doughnuts will be available.

Annual book sale Oct. 10
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Library will hold its annual used book sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Historical Society building on Main Street across from the Library.
A wide selection of books will be available for purchase, including many recent best sellers in hard cover and paperback, as well as books for children and young adults and a variety of nonfiction subjects for all ages. There will also be also be DVDs and puzzles for consideration.
There will be an opportunity to win from a selection of raffle prizes. Coffee and muffins will be available.
The remaining books will be sold in a Buck-a-Bag Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. On this day, the raffle winners will be drawn.
