What is wrong with Lewiston and Auburn? Lewiston schools faced a 250-student increase — a lot more than they expected — and mostly because of the immigrants.
Auburn has an offer from wealthy Chinese investors to remodel The Barn into luxury apartments where as many as 5,000 wealthy Chinese citizens could stay while getting advanced treatments at Central Maine Medical Center that they cannot get in China (Sun Journal, July 31).
Another Sun Journal story (July 31) indicated that Chinese nationals who invest at least $1 million in The Barn project in Auburn could secure visas to permanently live in the United States with their families.

Now, I don’t live in Lewiston or Auburn, but I do all my shopping in both cities and have watched different things happen there.
I have read about Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald and the job he is trying to do with the welfare problem. I commend him for what he is doing, except why did Lewiston officials allow all these immigrants in the first place?
Now, the mayor of Auburn and CMMC officials in Lewiston want to take on thousands of aging, rich Chinese. Of course, we all know the answer to this one — money.
I shall keep watch of what happens in Auburn and how those rich non-citizens take over, especially at CMMC.
