Why is Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald doing everything in his power to divide and single out people? While I’m in favor of government transparency, shaming the city’s welfare recipients makes no sense. In his four years in office, Macdonald has shown nothing but disdain for many Lewiston residents.

Ben Chin has a track record of bringing people together and getting big things accomplished. When I look at Chin’s stances and history, they stand in extreme contrast to Macdonald’s.

Chin is the best candidate for a city that has fallen on hard times but is on the mend. That was obvious since he fought the Heritage Initiative more than a decade ago. He brings commitment to inclusiveness and won’t blame and divide Lewiston residents.

Macdonald’s history of treating Lewiston’s Somali community as outsiders and recent effort to publicize welfare recipients shows his commitment to divisive tactics rather than service.
