AAA hosting free car care clinics
AUBURN — AAA will host free car care clinics throughout Maine during October as part of October’s Car Care Month.
AAA automotive professionals tour each of the Northern New England states performing prewinter vehicle check-ups that include checking: tires, fluid levels, windshield wipers, battery, charging system, brakes, lights, belts and hoses. No appointment is necessary.
The local clinic will be in Auburn from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Shaw’s Plaza, 600 Center St.

Pancake breakfast at Auburn church
AUBURN — A pancake breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at St. Philips Church, Route 4. Menu will also include sausage patties, fruit cup, orange juice, coffee, tea and milk.
Cost is $6 adults, $3 ages 6 to 12, free under 5. The event is being sponsored by the family groups of St. Philips.

Park Avenue Pickers jam session
AUBURN — The Park Avenue Pickers have scheduled an open jam session for all interested musicians at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.
The session is open to all levels of acoustic musicians from beginners to advanced. Bring any type of music, instruments, voices, family and friends.

Cafe to host Chef Mark Anthony
LEWISTON — The Ark & Olive Branch Cafe, 791 Lisbon St., will host “Celebrity Chef Mark Anthony’s Dinner and A Message” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Plant-based health nutrition, weight loss, lowering cholesterol and increasing energy will be covered.

AUBURN — The Mary Dillingham-Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant.

VFW Post to have lobster raffle
AUBURN — The Capt. Frank W. Hulett Post 1603, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 588 Minot Ave., will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14. All members are asked to attend.
There will be a lobster raffle following the meeting. Any veteran who was awarded a medal for serving in a combat zone overseas is welcome to join the group.

Breastfeeding support group to meet
AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to a La Leche League meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome.
This month’s discussion will be “Breastfeeding: Great Beginnings,” which will focus on preparing for nursing baby at birth, establishing and maintaining breastfeeding and adjusting to family life with a new baby.
All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion.
