The HELP Team is a group of volunteers who came together in 2013 to explore how to help seniors in the Rangeley area live in their homes for as long as possible and remain an active part of the community.
Initially started with financial help from a SeniorsPlus planning grant, HELP is now under the umbrella of Rangeley Health and Wellness. With the support of RHW grant funding, individual donations and community support, the group is thriving.
Current projects include the Neighbors Calling Neighbors program to check in on seniors living alone with a daily call and brief conversation. Those who would like a daily call should call Marcia at 207-864-3351.
The team, in partnership with the Rangeley Rotary, will host a Winter Senior Social every Thursday, January to April, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Undercroft of the Good Shepherd Church. There will be a time for conversation, games, puzzles, cards and a noon meal.
The HELP Adult Respite Care Program is slated to open in 2016. It will provide aid to caregivers of cognitively-challenged seniors one day a week.
