AUBURN — Gary Smith, president of New England Retirement Advisors, has earned the Chartered Financial Consultant professional designation from The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Candidates for the designation must complete a minimum of nine courses and 18 hours of supervised examinations. They must also fulfill stringent experience and ethics requirements. Individuals who earn a ChFC can provide expert advice on a broad range of financial topics, including financial planning, wealth accumulation and estate planning, income taxation, life and health insurance, business taxation and planning, investments and retirement planning.

Smith, of Auburn, is president of New England Retirement Advisors in Auburn and Portland. He has worked in the financial services industry since 1993. He holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation; has his Series 6, 7, 63, 65, 24 and life and health insurance licenses, as well as his associate broker Real Estate licenses (inactive status).

Smith has recently been published in national media publications CNBC.com and Financial Advisor Magazine. He is president of the Southern Maine Profit Partners chapter of Business Networking International in South Portland and is a member of the Auburn Exchange Club.
