1935 – 2015
AUBURN — Vital “Vic” Gagnon Jr. of Lewiston made his final journey home on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Hospice House, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston on June 22, 1935, son of Vital Sr. and Marie Gagnon. Throughout his life, Vic worked as a glazier, brick-maker and carpenter, a jack-of-all-trades and master of all.
An avid outsdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, bluegrass festivals, travel, camping, plus wintering in Florida. He always wanted to help others; his infectious laughter made the best of any situation, continuing through his last hours. He held family and friends extremely close and loved spending time with all. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Vic is survived by wife, Donna DiPietro; daughters, Tina and husband, Michael Marsh, Laurie Cothran and companion, John Allen, Brenda and husband, William Hamm, Rosemary and Leslie Verrill, and Dona and Michael Verrill; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Gaetane Gurney; brothers, Roger, Marcel, Richard and Normand Gagnon; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Rachel Desgrosseilliers.
He was predeceased by wife, Barbara; his parents; and brother, Maurice.
