DENMARK — The Denmark Arts Center, in collaboration with Janus Films in New York, will present “IKIRU” as part of its Old Man Movies series. The film will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the center, 50 West Main St.

Akira Kurosawa’s uplifting 1952 masterpiece “IKIRU” begins with a fatal diagnosis of stomach cancer, and follows Mr. Watanabe (Takashi Shimizu) through a miraculous life from there. “Ikiru,” which means “to live” in Japanese, shows the true meaning of a life in a flawless and deeply moving sequence that begins at Watanabe’s wake and flashes backward.

The Japanese film has English subtitles.
