1933 – 2015

CLEARWATER, Fla. — During the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 8, Armand Edward Marcotte passed away suddenly and peacefully in his Clearwater, Fla., home. Armand was 82 years old.

Armand was born on July 11, 1933, in Lewiston to Gerard and Rita Marcotte. He had three brothers and two sisters. After graduating from Edward Little High School in 1952, Armand enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He completed basic training at Fort Williams, and was based in Puerto Rico.

After completing his military service in 1956, Armand married Doris Y. Gagnon on Oct. 19, 1957, and later trained to be an electrician. He worked for International Paper Co. in Jay, as a respected electrician for approximately 35 years.

Armand spent the majority of his life in Jay, raising four children with his wife, Doris. He was a loving husband and father. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish.

Armand loved sports in general, excelling athletically in his younger years as a candlepin bowler and competitive fast-pitch softball league pitcher. He lovingly supported the multiple sporting interests of his children and was an enthusiastic spectator of various sports in general. Armand enjoyed playing golf and tennis, which continued throughout all of his retirement years.

In a social setting, Armand tended to be a “life of the party,” someone who enjoyed telling a good joke or two and would help to warm up a dance floor, given the opportunity. He loved to play card games such as cribbage along with many of his other family members.

Survivors to Armand are his four children, son, Michael Marcotte and wife, Joanne, of Auburn, Mass., son, Steven Marcotte of Jay, daughter, Ann Marie Cummings of Bristol, Conn., and son, Kenneth Marcotte and wife, Crizette, of Clearwater, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Marcotte and wife, Vera; brother, Leonard Marcotte and wife, Rolande; sister, Anita Schenk and husband, Randy; sister-in-law, Rose Marcotte; brother-in-law, Fernand Gagnon and wife, Vivian; sister-in-law, Cecile Cyr and husband, Roderick; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
