AUBURN —  On Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the United New Auburn Association will celebrate its fifth annual Say Happy Hello-ween to New Auburn’s Downtown Area Businesses.

The Halloween event is meant to provide a safe place for children and adults to celebrate during daylight hours and to encourage people to visit New Auburn businesses and shops.

The starting point is Rolly’s Diner, where trick-or-treaters will be given maps of the area and lists of participating businesses. Volunteer crossing guards will be stationed at the crosswalks.

Participating businesses will give out candy; some will offer prize drawings. A few businesses that are not usually open on Saturday will be open for the event.

Volunteer costume judges will wander throughout the area giving out award cards to children and adults with the best costumes in various categories. Prizes will be given out at Rolly’s.

The ending point of the event will be a haunted house at the Boys and Girls Club. Youngsters who attend the Boys and Girls Club started months ago creating the haunted house to make it even better than last year’s.
