MEXICO — Two residents were arrested Sunday evening after their car crashed into the front porch of a Harlow Hill Road home, Police Chief Roy Hodsdon said Monday.

Wanda McAlister, 48, was charged with operating under the influence and failure to submit to arrest or detention. Her passenger, Matthew Gallant, 38, was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of a government administrator, and failure to submit to arrest or detention, Hodsdon said.

There were no serious injuries to the two occupants or anyone in the house, he said.

Hodsdon said Officer Dean Benson responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a house on Harlow Hill Road and found a 1993 Suburu Impreza operated by McAlister. She drove south on Roxbury Road and didn’t make the turn onto Harlow Hill Road, the chief said.

“We had some witnesses saying that speed was definitely a factor in the crash,” Hodsdon said.

McAlister refused to submit to arrest and Gallant tried to interfere, the chief said. They were taken to Rumford Hospital to be checked for injuries and transported to the Oxford County Jail in Paris, where they were held on $1,000 and $500 bail, respectively.

The front porch received “a substantial amount of damage,” Hodgdon said.

“The vehicle received a good amount of damage too and was towed away. We’re going to be performing a vehicle autopsy to see if it’s ready for the road again,” he said.
