1911 – 2015
E. PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Mary A. (Varr) Mollerberg, 103, of E. Providence, R.I., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct. 15, with her loving children by her side. She was the wife of the late Sven Gustave Mollerberg.
She was born in Providence, R.I., a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Dubiel) Varr, she lived in E. Providence 80 years.
Mary was the chief securities clerk for the State Rhode Island General Treasurers Office for 25 years, before retiring in 1975.
Mary was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society of St. Martha’s Church. She was past president of the E. Providence PTA and was a member of the PTA Council, East Providence Senior Bowling League, East Providence Recreation Bowling League and the East Providence AARP Chapter No. 1310.
She spent many seasons in Maine, where she was also an honorary member of Lunn-Hunnewell Amvets Post No. 6 Auxiliary of New Gloucester and loved going to services and gatherings at East Auburn Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce M. Wotherspoon and her husband, Robert, of New Gloucester; a son, Ronald A. Mollerberg and his wife, Esther, of Riverside, R.I.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Local family includes Robert Wotherspoon Jr. and wife, Sally, Donna Dee and husband, Steve, and Kim Mason and husband, Randy.
She was the sister of the late Blanche Slater, William and Stanley Varr.
