PARIS — The Maine Veterans’ Home and the Western Maine Veterans’ Advisory Committee is planning a Veterans Day service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Veterans’ Home, 477 High St.

“Caring for those who served” is the mission statement of the Maine Veterans’ Homes, and will be the focus on this service.

“We honor and remember both the veterans who are here with us now and those who have passed on, Joel Dutton, administrator of the 90-bed facility, said.

The program will include the unveiling of the Vietnam display, done to honor the 40th anniversary of the U.S. withdrawal from the Vietnam War. Artifacts have been collected and will be displayed in a new case in the main hallway.

Guest speaker will be Rep. Tom Winsor, R-Norway. There will be a flag raising, posting of the colors and music presentations. Refreshments will be served and tours of the facility will be available.
