OTISFIELD — A monthlong investigation into burglaries occurring at homes and camps on Saturday Pond Road led the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office to arrest an Otisfield man Tuesday afternoon.

Detective Josh Wyman arrested Martin D. Lerman, 44, of Otisfield on three charges of burglary and four charges of theft. As of Thursday, Lerman remained at the Oxford County Jail with a bail set at $500 cash or personal recognizance with a Maine pretrial contract.

Wyman, along with Lt. Brian Landis, investigated the incidents that homeowners and contractors reported at various times over the past month. Landis said multiple items were stolen during the incidents involving three homes or camps, one of which was under construction.

“Most of the things that were taken were power tools,” Landis said. “There was also theft of some boats or kayaks from another residence.”

Some of the items have been recovered, he said, and some were pawned.

“So I don’t physically have them in my hand, but they’re still there,” he said. “We had contact with the pawn shop.”

Lerman was caught on videotape removing a piece of equipment from one of the properties, which was what led the detectives to arrest him at his residence.
