1934 – 2015

AUBURN — Nancy L. Trider, 80, a resident of North Road, Leeds, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn.

She was born in Leeds on Nov. 9, 1934, the daughter of Stanley and Ruth (Lovewell) Bryant. Nancy attended school in Leeds and was a 1952 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner; she continued her education at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass., and Auburn Maine School of Commerce. She worked as a medical secretary as well as being a wonderful wife and mother.

Nancy was a distinguished artist in Maine and throughout New England. An early accomplishment was winning a contest to design the Leavitt Area High School Hornets logo.

She was a charter member of the Leeds Community Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was also a member of the Western Maine Plein Aire Painters.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 61 years, David Trider of Leeds; her children and their spouses, Kimberly Trider Grant and husband, Arthur, of Leeds, Dr. Karen Barrett of New Vineyard, and Christopher Trider and wife, Karen, of Leeds; three sisters, Anna Smith and Katherine McNear of Leeds, and Edna Twitchell of Turner; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
