Rotary hosting veterans dinner

OXFORD — The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills will host a free spaghetti dinner for local veterans and one guest. The dinner will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Oxford Legion Hall located on King Street. Dinner will include spaghetti with meat sauce or non-meat sauce, garlic bread and drinks.

Reservations are required by calling 207-743-8131. Space is limited to first 150 people to register.

Earlier this fall, the Oxford Legion Hall became a member of the Oxford Hills Rotary Club, and this is one of many collaborative efforts for the two organizations.

The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills is a community service based organization. They work to raise funds, which are invested back into the community on project such as scholarships for graduating seniors, Special Olympics and May Day Play Day.

Low-cost spay/neuter Cclinic Nov. 12

BROWNFIELD — Rozzie May Animal Alliance, a Conway, N.H., based nonprofit, will hold a special grant-funded feline spay/neuter clinic for income-qualified Oxford County residents. Funding for this special program is provided by the Cleo Fund, a non-profit spay/neuter organization managed the Animal Welfare Society, based in West Kennebunk. The clinic will take place Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Brownfield Lions Club, 701 Pequawket Trail..

Individuals from income-qualified households located in Oxford County may be eligible for the program, which includes a low, $20 copay for the surgery. Oxford County residents may also bring in feral cats (the cats must be located in Oxford Country) for no charge. Appointments are required.

Clinic appointments include a brief exam by a licensed veterinarian, surgery, rabies vaccine, medications, flea pill, nail trimming and ear cleaning. All are welcome to the clinic. RMAA’s standard surgical rate for male cats is $60 and female cats is $75.

‘Souper’ supper at Chesterville Grange

CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Grange will be holding a public “souper” supper from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.

Menu includes homemade soups, chowders and dessert. Adults, $5; child, $2.50.

Learn about the Perleys

BRIDGTON — The Loon Echo Land Trust, the Bridgton Historical Society and local author Caroline Grimm will present about the life of Enoch Perley, a dominant figure in the early days of “Pondicherry.”

Grimm will provide insight into this industrious man and his pioneering family. Many of the lands that bear his name have been conserved by Loon Echo, including the Perley Pond-Northwest River preserve in Sebago and the 1,600-acre Perley Mills Community Forest in Bridgton, Denmark and Sebago. The 1770’s Perley farm, now owned by the Gyger family, is also in permanent conservation.

This 90-minute program will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the fully-accessible Loon Echo office at 8 Depot Street, Suite No. 4.

Phillips craft fair Nov. 14

PHILLIPS — The annual craft fair at the Community House on Main Street will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.

It will include an assortment of items suitable for gift-giving, all made by local artisans.

Table rentals cost $10.

The fair benefits the Community of Christian Women and Phillips Community Church.
