FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington is holding its 10th annual College to Career event to help students, alumni and community members learn what it takes to successfully transition from college to career.
It will be held from 3-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in North Dining Halls B and C in the UMF Olsen Student Center. It is free and open to the public.
It begins with a panel discussion featuring successful Maine business professionals who will share their post-graduate career paths and key ways to navigate today’s job landscape. This presentation will also inform the audience on current employment trends, future job opportunities, what to expect during the interview process, the role social media plays in job searches today and other topics.
The College to Career panel includes: Shelly Deane, executive vice president, administration and HR, Franklin Savings Bank; Sarah Holman (UMF Class of 2006), human resource specialist, Sugarloaf; Nancy Marshall, founder and CEO, Nancy Marshall Communications; Chris McKee (UMF Class of 1992), vice president corporate programs, Geiger; Eric Tompkins (UMF Class of 2002), president and chief architect, Aptuitiv; Katie Wellman, director of field recruiting and leadership development, Unum; Seth Taylor, UMF interim director for development and moderator.
A professional networking reception will take place after the panel discussion, where members of the audience can engage with panelists to make important connections regarding job and internship opportunities. Business attire is recommended.
