NEWRY — A human-caused two-and-a-half acre forest fire broke out in Newry Monday evening.
The call came in at 6:30 p.m. and the blaze was put out by 9:30 p.m., according to assistant fire Chief Alan Fleet.
Newry Fire Department was first on the scene, followed by Bethel and Woodstock fire departments.
Fleet said they are unsure if the fire was accidental or set on purpose. The Maine Forest Service will be on scene Tuesday to investigate further.
